Frequently Asked Questions
How much are your cakes? All cakes are individually priced, depending on the intricacy of the design, the size and ingredients used. To find out more just head over to my pricing page.
How much notice do you need? I cannot answer this question as my diary can change daily. I cannot accept your booking without a paid booking fee, and I only make two cakes a week, so my diary fills up very quickly, so if you would like me to make a cake for you, then please do get in touch asap.
Where are you based? I am based in Ryhall, Rutland, just outside of Stamford. But I cater for all area in the counties of Rutland, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire, Cambridgeshire, and Nottinghamshire. If in doubt, just ask!
Can you decorate a cake which I provide? My insurance will not allow me to work on any cakes, fruit or sponge, which have not been bakes in my kitchen. So I am afraid the answer is always no.
Do you deliver? Yes I can deliver all cakes, though a charge may apply. Wedding cakes are always delivered, I do not allow collection of these.
How do I book a consultation? Consultations are held by video call, on request, at many convenient times. Just get in touch and we can arrange a suitable time to make the call.
What are your opening hours? The Purple Pumpkin kitchen is not open to the public, but you can get in touch with me via my contact page, that you can find in the menu. I try to reply to all messages within 48 hours. I don't work evenings or weekends, so I won't respond at these times.
Do you provide cakes stands, and cutting knives? I have a large selection of cake stands which my couples are welcome to use. You may also hire a cake stand from me if I am not making your cake. I do not provide the cake cutting knives.
Do you have cakes ready to buy? All my cakes are bespoke , and made specifically for my clients, I do not have ready made cakes available for people to buy every day.
How much notice do you need? Its always wise to book your cake as far in advance as possible. Sometimes I do have space for last minute orders, but this is not the norm, and shouldn't be relied upon.
